A couple of weeks ago, we went to Las Cruces for a conference that Michael was attending. One afternoon while the kids and I were waiting for Michael to finish, we noticed a huge spray of water in the air. Of course, we went to investigate. The NMSU (New Mexico State University) fire department was training new firemen by playing a game of 'soccer.' They were pushing the ball around with their hoses. After a while, one of the firemen came over to talk to us. He explained that the school fire department was staffed solely by full-time students. He spent quite some time talking to us and answering our questions. I was very impressed with his professionalism and friendliness. The kids were impressed too; Gabriel even wanted to dress like a fireman at his school career day.
