Spring in New Mexico

March 27th we had an unusual Spring snowstorm. The week before and the week after had 70 degree weather. If you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes :)

Creative Exercise #6

Step outside of our comfort zones - do something that scares us. Let's try, at least once this week, to do something different from what we would normally do - wear something out of our usual style, go somewhere different, try something new - challenge ourselves to make one small change. Go ahead, I dare ya! ;)

My answer: I planned a walk-a-thon this week for our Mothers-of-preschoolers group. I usually like being in the background and not the at the center of attention. This job required that I meet with the venue for the walk and convince them to let us use their facility, get insurance for the walk, get supplies, make certificates for the prize winners and talk it up among the participants. It ended up being fun to do. I find that the more I do things that I dread, the easier it becomes. If I hadn't worked outside the home before having children, I would be a total homebody.

Fun with Light

As I have been playing with my new camera, I have realized the importance of light and how it changes at different times during the day. I am at the point that I realize this is important and am trying to notice and understand it better. Here are a couple of fun photos of Gabriel and the sunlight from a big window over the landing.

Gabriel is a really funny kid. When he was having his speech tested, the speech therapist wanted him to say "thumb" so she showed him a photo of it. He called it a finger. She said, "Yes, but this finger has a special name, do you know what it is?" He pondered it a moment and answered, "Gabriel?" The way kids think is so great!
